Spring Spires Collection

10 Plant Collection

Sale price$75.00 Regular price$90.00

Get a jump on your very early spring flowers, with a mix of two of our favourite upright, long spire type flowers: Stock & Snapdragons! I couldn't imagine spring without them! To be honest, there's a pretty good chance they'll actually flower when it's technically winter, but at our farm I always feel like spring starts in August.

Includes a 10 plant mix of 2 plants each of the following stock varieties:
Stock - StoX Antique Rose
Stock - StoX Yellow
Stock - StoX Silver
Snapdragon - Costa Apricot
Snapdragon - Costa Silver

Our stock plants contain 1-2 (mostly 2) plants per pot so you can plant them a little further apart (15-20cm) and have more flowers for less planting. Our snapdragon plants are pinched already so they'll put out more than one stem from the get go, then you can keep cutting/pinching/harvesting the snapdragon stems and they'll keep on producing stems for months!

Please note, we have a minimum plant order of $45 (approx. 5 plants) – you can mix & match any plants to meet the minimum.

Our plant boxes can fit up to 10 plants per box.

Plant orders are shipped on Mondays (& Tuesdays).

See our Shipping Page for more info.

Matthiola incana

Plant Type: Hardy Annual

Ideal Location: Full Sun / Partial Shade

Spacing: 10–15cm

Height: 60cm+

Most stock (except for the Quartet series) only typically produce one flower stem per plant, so do not pinch!

Some sort of support is generally advised, the taller they get the better your support will need to be.

Stock are best grown in the cooler months, their flowers will be more prone to damage in warm wet spells.

Being apart of the brassica family, it's best to try and time sowing after your white butterfly numbers subside in autumn but with enough time to make it to flowering before their population explodes back in spring - or be prepared to net them and/or treat with weekly/fortnightly sprays of BT (Bacillus thuringiensis - organic bacteria) to keep the munching caterpillars under control.
