STOCK COLLECTION

10 Plant Collection

Sale price$75.00 Regular price$90.00

Last year we had a very early planting of stock, and while we missed our mother's day flowering goal, I was so pleasantly surprised just how well the StoX series did, flowering away during early winter a good month or two earlier than we'd usually ever have stock flowering at the farm, and at a time we usually don't have many flowers at all! With the cool temps they also lasted ages on the plants too.

Includes a 10 plant mix of 2-3 plants each of the following stock varieties:
StoX Antique Rose
StoX Yellow
StoX Silver
StoX White

We're experimenting with double sowing our stock (for plant sales, and how we grow them ourselves too), so each pot contains 1–2 plants. Pots with 2 plants, just plant a little further apart as usual (15–20cm instead of the normal 10-15cm), and we should get more stock flowers for less planting effort :)

As it is still quite warm at the moment, do make sure you keep up with watering your stock plants until things start cooling down next month, they will be prone to flowering very short if they dry out, but with a little coaxing through summer, they'll be primed to hit the ground running as soon as it does cool down and flower late autumn/early winter.

Please note, we have a minimum plant order of $45 (approx. 5 plants) – you can mix & match any plants to meet the minimum.

Our plant boxes can fit up to 10 plants per box.

Plant orders are shipped on Mondays (& Tuesdays).

See our Shipping Page for more info.

Matthiola incana

Plant Type: Hardy Annual

Ideal Location: Full Sun / Partial Shade

Spacing: 10–15cm

Height: 60cm+

Most stock (except for the Quartet series) only typically produce one flower stem per plant, so do not pinch!

Some sort of support is generally advised, the taller they get the better your support will need to be.

Stock are best grown in the cooler months, their flowers will be more prone to damage in warm wet spells.

Being apart of the brassica family, it's best to try and time sowing after your white butterfly numbers subside in autumn but with enough time to make it to flowering before their population explodes back in spring - or be prepared to net them and/or treat with weekly/fortnightly sprays of BT (Bacillus thuringiensis - organic bacteria) to keep the munching caterpillars under control.
