Our tulips started their chilling on 21 May. Cooler regions (South Island and often lower North Island) winter is sufficiently cold enough that pre-chilling isn't necessary. However if you live in more marginal or warmer regions (upper North Island) pre-chilling for about 4-6 weeks is very beneficial for longer stem length and in properly warmer regions pre-chilling may be required for the best flower developement.

Sissi I think might just be the perfect pink tulip I've been on a mission to find. Pink Impression was my favourite, but sadly that was discontinued a couple years ago, and I've been struggling to find a replacement for its perfectly mid warm pink flowers. I can't grow them side by side now that pink impression is gone, but they are very similar, which makes me very very excited!
