Silene - Blushing Lanterns

SILENE VULGARIS

One of my absolute favourite late spring airy flowers, with sprays of green & blushy ballon-like pods with white petals. Creates an absolutely beautifully frothy sight when planted en masse!

Stems hold best if harvested after the very first flower's petals have fallen, and the rest of the spray are putting on their show.

Silene is an annual with perennial tendencies. If kept from going to seed it will stick around for another season, but if let go to seed it will likely die out, but it does such a good job at self seeding it will come back year after year one way or another.

Also know as Bladder Campion.
