DELPHINIUM CHINENSIS

Sprays of the most surreal sky blue flowers! Incredibly productive (when sown early enough, spring sowings will be much smaller in their first year compared to autumn/early winter sowings). 

Slugs and snails absolutely love delphs, so you'll definitely need a plan (ie. slug bait or however you prefer to deal to them) to keep them at bay.

This variety has been a LONG long time coming! We often struggle to germinate bought in seeds of delphiniums, but I knew that if we could just get it to grow and save our own seeds we'd be away racing. We struggled with our Butterfly Pink for a few years before we got it to seed then we were away racing, with our seeds having fantastic germination for years. But luck was not on our side these past few years, if it wasn't one thing it was another, year after year. We were too late getting them sown, they didn't germinate, we tried again, and again, then we didn't get the plant planted out in time, or then that year. We did get them planted one year then slugs ate every single plant (bar two) of a 12m bed of them. But this past season we were determined THIS was going to be the year! And thankfully every thing aligned, we got them germinated, planted, (slug baited), watered, pampered, and finally we had a row of delightful blue this summer, and an abundant harvest of seeds!
